Theodor Nielsen
CEO & Founder at NIL Technology
Theodor Nielsen is the CEO and Founder of NIL Technology (NILT), where he has been leading the company since its inception in 2006.
He has pioneered the development of nanoimprint lithography and meta-optics, transforming the Danish-based NILT from a two-person startup into a company recognized worldwide. Highlighting this success, NILT was acquired in 2025 by Radiant Opto-Electronics Corporation (ROE) for €300 million. That same year, Theodor received the EPIC CEO Award from the European Photonics Industry Consortium.
Before founding NILT, Theodor conducted Ph.D. research on nanoimprint lithography. He holds an M.Sc.E. in Applied Physics and Nanotechnology from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
