Marco Hutter
Professor of Robotics at ETH Zürich, Director of Robotics & AI Institute (RAI)


Marco Hutter is a serial entrepreneur and Professor of Robotic Systems at ETH Zürich since 2015. He has been involved in founding ten ETH spin-off companies, which have collectively raised over €230 million. One of the most notable is ANYbotics, an NGP Capital portfolio company that develops quadrupedal robots for industrial applications in challenging environments such as offshore facilities, underground mines, and forestry operations.
He was awarded the Branco Weiss Fellowship from 2014 to 2019, supporting young scientists taking research beyond the mainstream. His interests lie in the development of mobile (legged) robots and their artificial intelligence, enabling them to autonomously operate in challenging environments.
Marco earned his Ph.D. from ETH Zürich and completed research stays at Stanford University and MIT. Since 2024, he has served as Director at the Zurich office of the Robotics and AI Institute (RAI Institute).
