After whittling down the field from hundreds of companies, Swedish gaming startup MAG Interactive has just taken the jury award at TNW Europe 2014’s Tech5 competition.
MAG Interactive has been developing iOS apps for clients since the App Store opened, but the firm set out on its own with the release of Ruzzle in 2012. Since then, the game has amassed over 50 million downloads.
The firm has 30 employees, which it divides into dedicated teams for its titles. In 2014, MAG Interactive plans to release two new titles.
In our search for the hottest European startups, we sorted through hundreds of submissions and screened more than 100 companies. MAG Interactive beat out finalists from six other countries: payment startup Leetchi (France), taxi hailing app Hailo (UK), ecommerce firm Run a Shop (Germany), cloud-based sales platform Showpad (Belgium), social gaming startup Akamon (Spain), travel comparison service KelBillet (France), and logistics platform Eyefreight (Netherlands).
Hailo took second place in the jury category, while Run a Shop won honors for growing its revenue the fastest (over 8,357%) from 2011 to 2013.
Congratulations to MAG Interactive and the other fantastic companies that presented at TNW Europe. It’s an honor for us to support the European tech community. See you all next year.
