We sat down with Hui to get to know her a little better.
What was your first job in the tech or VC world?
I joined the Technology-to-business Center of Siemens Shanghai in 2014, where I mainly focused on scouting for new technology, monitoring tech trends and managing collaborative R&D projects between Siemens BU’s and start-ups.
Which technology area are you most excited about right now? What do you want to invest in?
Recently I’m often impressed by new computing or data processing technologies. And then the trend of digitalization of traditional industries that comes with them. I want to explore opportunities in these fields, i.e., edge computing, neuromorphic intelligence, and smart manufacturing, etc.
If you would build your own start-up, what kind of company would you start?
It’ll probably be a vital sign sensor project, since they capture the physical world and translate it into digits, I see great potential in it.
What do you like to do in your free time that does not involve a screen?
I sing in an a cappella group; we practice every week. I also play piano and ukulele, and paint watercolor. All at amateur level though.
Diversity and Inclusion is hot topic now. What improvements do you think the industry could make overall?
Always be curious to the world around us, and always be ready for changes.
Dr. Che is also a physicist. She used to be a Research Assistant at the Ultra-Violet Raman Lab at the University of Idaho and has published 7 research papers.
Hui got her Bachelor of Science in Optical Information Science and Technology from Anhui University, China. She holds a master and a Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of Idaho.
